Description

NM Wear Plate

NM400 Wear Plate is a general abrasion-resistant steel plate for mining, cement, quarrying, coal handling and bulk material handling equipment. It is commonly used when ordinary carbon steel liners wear too quickly and the buyer needs a practical upgrade with good fabrication flexibility.

EB China supplies NM400 wear plates as standard plates or processed replacement parts according to drawings, samples, photos or site measurements. Typical supply includes cut-to-size plates, drilled plates, countersunk plates and custom liner components for chutes, hoppers, bins, conveyors, screens, buckets and truck bodies.

Reference price: From US$620 / metric ton. Final quotation depends on thickness, dimensions, processing requirements, quantity, packaging and delivery terms.

Technical selection tables for chute liners and wear plates

Use these tables as a technical checklist before requesting chute liners, wear plates or processed liner parts. Final selection should be confirmed against drawings, material flow, impact load, existing liner life and installation constraints.

Hardness range reference

Material option Typical hardness reference Practical use
NM400 wear plate About 360-430 HBW General abrasion protection and moderate-wear chute or hopper liner areas.
NM450 wear plate About 420-480 HBW Moderate-to-heavy abrasion in mining, cement and quarry transfer points.
NM500 wear plate About 470-540 HBW Severe sliding abrasion where the chute structure supports the liner correctly.
Ni-Hard / high chrome cast liner Specified by casting grade and heat treatment Severe abrasive flow zones where cast geometry or high cast hardness is preferred.

Plate thickness range reference

Thickness range Typical liner use RFQ note
6-10 mm Light-duty cover plates and low-impact sliding abrasion areas. Confirm flatness, fixing pattern and minimum order quantity.
12-20 mm Common chute liner and hopper liner replacement plates. Suitable for many bolt-on wear plate layouts.
25-40 mm Heavy-duty transfer points, crusher feed areas and higher-wear zones. Check lifting weight, bolt access and installation clearance.
50 mm and above Severe wear or impact zones where structure and access allow thick liners. Review drawing, support condition and replacement method before quotation.

Material grade selection table

Grade / liner type Best-fit condition Common buyer requirement
NM400 Moderate abrasion with good workability and cost control. Cut-to-size plates, standard bolt holes and general equipment liners.
NM450 Higher abrasion while keeping practical processing and installation. Mining chute liners, cement transfer liners and hopper liners.
NM500 Severe sliding abrasion and high-wear transfer points. Longer wear life, correct support and careful processing review.
ASTM A532 / Ni-Hard / high chrome cast liner Severe abrasive flow or repeat cast liner shapes. Grade confirmation, casting drawing, heat treatment and hardness inspection.

Fixing method table

Fixing method Where it fits Design notes
Bolt-on liners Transfer chutes, hoppers and areas needing planned replacement. Provide hole diameter, countersunk requirement, bolt spacing and access direction.
Weld-on liners Fixed areas with lower replacement frequency. Confirm welding procedure, preheating requirement and cracking risk for high-hardness plates.
Modular liner layout Large chute surfaces with uneven wear patterns. Use smaller replaceable sections to reduce spare cost and shutdown time.
Cast-in or machined cast liner features Repeat cast wear liner parts and special geometry. Confirm casting drawing, machining allowance and inspection standard.

Wear mechanism vs material selection

Dominant wear mechanism Typical symptoms Practical material direction
Sliding abrasion Uniform thinning along material flow path. NM450 or NM500 wear plate; cast high-hardness liner where geometry is suitable.
Impact abrasion Cracking, broken edges, local deformation or fast wear at first contact point. Review impact angle and support; use suitable NM grade, thickness and modular impact-zone layout.
Gouging / cutting wear Deep scratches, grooves and sharp particle cutting marks. Higher hardness wear plate or cast liner review, with thickness adjusted to service interval.
Material build-up Blocked flow, changed trajectory and uneven liner wear. Review chute geometry, liner layout, inspection access and surface transition gaps.
Fastener loosening Plate movement, broken bolts or fines behind liner. Improve bolt pattern, countersunk design, liner support and maintenance access.

Standard RFQ Specification for NM400 Wear Plate

NM400 wear plate is usually selected for general abrasion protection where buyers need better wear life than ordinary carbon steel while keeping practical processing, drilling and installation flexibility. The following ranges are quotation references; final grade, thickness and processing should follow drawings, application photos and working conditions.

NM400 specification reference

Parameter Quotation reference RFQ confirmation required
Material grade NM400 / 400-class abrasion-resistant steel plate, or buyer-specified equivalent grade. Confirm current liner grade, certificate requirement and whether equivalent 400-class plate is acceptable.
Hardness Common 400-class reference: about 360-430 HBW. Hardox 400 official reference is 370-430 HBW for sheet and plate. State required hardness band, test report requirement and whether a material certificate is needed.
Thickness Common chute liner range: 6-30 mm for many general abrasion panels; 8-40 mm can be reviewed for heavier chutes and hoppers. Send existing liner thickness, target service interval, bolt access and panel weight limit.
Processing Cut-to-size, drilled holes, countersunk holes, slots, edge chamfer, forming review, part marking and drawing-based inspection. Provide DXF/PDF drawing, hole coordinates, countersink requirement, tolerance and part list.
Fixing method Bolt-on plate, countersunk bolt plate, welded area or modular liner layout depending on maintenance access. Confirm bolt size, access direction, shutdown plan and whether field welding is allowed.

Price and quotation factors

Factor Why it matters What to send
Grade and thickness Material cost, availability and cutting yield change with thickness and grade. NM400 or equivalent grade, thickness, size and quantity.
Plate shape and nesting Trapezoid, curved or irregular panels may increase material waste and cutting time. CAD/PDF drawing, overall dimensions and part numbers.
Hole pattern More drilled/countersunk holes increase machining and inspection time. Hole diameter, coordinates, countersink angle/depth and bolt standard.
Application condition Moderate abrasion, impact, material build-up or bolt loosening may require different layout or thickness. Material handled, particle size, drop height, current failure photos and existing liner life.
Inspection and packing Marked parts, dimensional reports, hardness checks and export packing affect cost and lead time. Inspection document requirement, packing method and destination country.

MOQ, lead time and documents

Item Planning reference Notes
MOQ Trial liner sets can be reviewed by drawing. Economic batch quotation is generally better from about 500 kg to 1 metric ton and above. Small replacement orders can still be evaluated if drawings and thickness are complete.
Lead time Typical processed NM400 wear plate order: about 10-25 working days after drawing confirmation and deposit. Lead time depends on plate stock, thickness, hole count, inspection requirement and packing.
Inspection documents Material certificate, hardness reference, dimension inspection photos/report and packing photos can be supplied according to project requirement. State document requirements before quotation so they are included in the schedule.
Packing and marking Export pallet/crate packing, rust protection, drawing number, part number and installation sequence labels. Useful for multi-panel chute liner sets and repeat replacement orders.
