Description

Adjustable liner installation

Slotted hole chute liner plates for replacement liners where installation adjustment matters.

Slotted hole chute liner plates are custom wear-resistant plates with elongated mounting holes. They are used when replacement liners need a small amount of installation adjustment because site holes, chute structure, welded brackets or field measurements may not be perfectly aligned.

EB Chuteliner can quote slotted hole liner plates according to drawings, worn liner photos, samples or site measurements. The product is suitable for chute liners, hopper liners, conveyor transfer point liners and other bulk material handling wear zones.

Why use slotted holes?

Slots can help installers align replacement liners with existing bolt positions, especially where older chute structures have weld distortion, repair history or dimensional variation.

Material options

NM400, NM450, NM500 and other wear-resistant plate options can be reviewed according to abrasion, impact, plate thickness and fixing method.

Typical specification range

Item Typical RFQ detail Buyer note
Material NM400 / NM450 / NM500 wear plate or project-specified grade. Confirm abrasion, impact and fabrication requirements.
Thickness Drawing-specified plate thickness reviewed against grade, part size and processing route. Send the current thickness, required interfaces and replacement target.
Slot shape Obround slot, elongated bolt hole, mixed slot and round-hole layout. Confirm slot length, width, direction and edge distance.
Processing Cutting, drilling, slotting, countersinking where required, bevels and marking. Drawing revision should clearly show which holes are slotted.
Inspection Dimension check, slot location check, hardness check where applicable and packing photos. Define inspection documents during RFQ.

Slot dimensions that must be controlled on the drawing

A note that says only “slot as required” is not enough for manufacture or inspection. The drawing should identify each elongated hole from a common datum and distinguish it from round, countersunk, keyhole or plug-weld features.

Drawing field What to state RFQ purpose
Slot width and end form Finished width, end radius or obround form, and applicable tolerance Connects the feature to the selected bolt and processing method
Slot length Overall finished length and the actual adjustment range required Avoids adding movement that the installation does not need
Slot direction Orientation relative to the part datum, flow arrow or installation direction Ensures the adjustment acts in the intended direction
Location Centre coordinates, pitch, row spacing and edge distance from controlled datums Supports dimensional inspection and fit-up
Fastener interface Bolt diameter, head, washer or plate-washer dimensions and access side Allows the owner to review bearing and clamping coverage
Part identity Wear face, flow direction, position mark, drawing number and revision Prevents mirrored or revised panels from being mixed during shutdown

Design boundary: a slot can provide controlled fit-up adjustment, but it should not be used to hide major structural misalignment or an unverified hole pattern. Final slot geometry, washer coverage, tightening requirements and suitability for impact or vibration must be approved by the equipment owner, OEM or responsible site engineer.

Where slotted hole liner plates are useful

  • Replacement chute liners where original hole positions are not fully reliable.
  • Hopper liner plates installed on repaired or welded structures.
  • Transfer point liners requiring adjustment during site fit-up.
  • Wear plate segments with mixed round holes and slotted holes.
  • Retrofit liner projects where drawings and actual site dimensions may differ.

RFQ checklist for slotted hole liner plates

Send this information Why it matters
Drawing, sketch or worn plate photos Confirms outline shape, slot layout and installation position.
Slot length, width and direction Controls slotting process and installation adjustment range.
Bolt size and washer size Ensures the slot does not reduce fixing reliability.
Material grade and thickness Used for quotation, processing feasibility and wear-life review.
Quantity and drawing revision Supports nesting, batch production, inspection and packing.
Required quality documents Material certificate, dimensional photos, slot inspection and packing photos can be discussed before production.

Design notes for slotted holes

Slots should provide installation adjustment without weakening the fixing area. Buyers should confirm bolt diameter, washer coverage, slot direction, material flow direction and edge distance. For high-impact positions, the fixing method should be reviewed carefully because liner movement during operation can damage the chute structure.

For the information-side comparison, read Slotted Holes vs Round Holes for Chute Liners. It explains when a proven round-hole pattern is preferable and when controlled adjustment may justify a slot.

If a flush surface is required, countersunk bolt wear plates may be considered. If weld-on installation is preferred, see plug weld chute liner plates.

Buyer note: slotted holes should be drawn with slot length, width, direction, edge distance and washer coverage. If drawings are incomplete, send photos with measurements and mark the slot direction on the liner plate.
